Caught by the police
Hi again!Ballet was fantastic. Turned out to be Swan Lake, and they gave us (in exchange for 120r) a program with the story in, so we knew when they were doing sad dancing and when they were doing happy dancing. Noone asked to see our passport, but they did only speak to us in russian whilst the other foreigners got told where to go in english. But we can read russian now, so finding our door was not a problem!!
Yesterday we just wandrered again. On to the fortress where I found a museum that had english posters about the history of Peter! Think Caroline thought it took a little bit long.... so to make up for it, I suggested taking the Metro home instead of walking down all of Nevskiy (the main street, about twice the length of Princes street) again. Went down very well, and I was very excited about the oportunity to take lots and lots of photos of the retro style inside. Started with a photo of the funny little coins we get as tickets. and was swiftly rushed into a small office by an angry looking man in uniform! Said sorry sorry sorry whilst trying to remain upright on very shaky legs. The man kept talking in russian and finally pointed at a sign saying no photography. Ups. Showed him I deleted the photos, but there was no mercy, I had to hand over my 200r (= about 2GBP/50NOK).
After that the Metro went surprisingly well though, and by the time we were home, the pulse was back below 100.
Met up with German Jakob again, and tried the English pub, as you do when abroad :) But was about 2.50GBP a pint, so far too expensive.
Today we have been away to the summer palace - very pretty and quite nice for us to country side girls to be out of the city! And I got to sleep for half an hour both ways on the boat - the travelling reflex og sleeping whilst in transit is kicking in nicely, wondering what I'll be doing the next few weeks on the transib...

sounds like fun so far, trust you guys to be involved with the police in the first few days, very impressed with the constant updates so far is it going to continue!!!!!!
