Guro and Caroline on Tour

Hallais!!!
In china now... We have 10 days in Beijing as it is the chinese national holiday and all the chinese people are travelling around the country, filling all the buses/trains/planes. Both of us thought Beijing was going to be a bit of a chellenge - very busy, cramped and noisy. But Beijing is great. People are really friendly - mostly because they want to take photos of Caroline (tall blond thing she is), and they all want to practice their english. It is cramped, and noisy and polluted, but not stressfull at all! Well, for us anyway. Did see a couple of chinese getting a bit ratty (ie fighting) on a bustling metro...
So we are just chillin' and letting the days pass. Have made it to the Forbidden city, Tian'anmen square, Lama temple, bits of wall etc, but mainly keeping Mark and Michelle (the left overs after our transib group) entertained. Long breakfasts and late nights. 2y a 630ml beer - means we could have bought 800 beers for the money we spent on cocktails on the Hyatt (posh hotel that Sarah and Jerry stayed at)!! Could have kept the whole hostel happy several days... Must admit the cocktail night was great, last night with the russia crew. And got our revenge on the hotel when we snuck into their swimming pool the next day. Lovely first swim of holiday.
Just to prove it is a small world, and that tall ginger men stand out in a chinese crowd, we met Tom randomly on Tian'anmen square on the busiest day of the year!!! Was very cool. Convinced him to trek across town to our Youth hostel for drinks the next day (his friends didn't make it - victims of hutong kebab).
Just spoken to Neale family, and for those interested - Tatty is fine!! Loving life on a farm, killing rats and swimming in cattle troughs.
Plan now is to finish with Beijing - Summerpalace, Temple of Heaven and post office (give us comments/send emails and you might get something nice), then move on to Xi'an and the Terrakotta (potta) army.

Another translation task for Caroline:
U make my day! I bergen pøser regnet ned og mørket har senket seg! Føles i alle fall sånn. Da er det godt å drømme seg bort med å lese reisebrev fra dere. Takk :D

Kos dere med månefestivalen eller hva den nå het :-)

stoooor klem
Klarer forresten Caroline å oversette?
