we're back!!
Blimey... it seems we left you guys back in lijiang!! china must have had some issues with guros last blog as we got to vietnam yesterday where you'll be thankful to know we're back online :)so much to catch up on we'll do it in short blogs, i'll let guro do a bit etc otherwise even family members wont persist to read all!
so we're thinking of renaming the blog guro caroline mark and michelle as we've kidnapped them truely now, when i say 'we' i refer to the 4 of us - all going well will be together until christmas in thailand (and new years the way our hostel hunt in sydeny is going!)
firstly thanks to all for comments, especially pod! we were relieved to have made it out of china without eating cat or dog(we hope...!) and apologies to parents for not letting them know all was fine despite lack of updates (oops)
so we left on a bit of a cliffhanger, just arrived in lijiang and hoping to extend our visas or facing a quick run out of the country. first things first dinner (western style of course) where we meet liza and pete, an english couple who end up stuck with us for the next few days. visa extensions the next day no hassle so the trip to hike tiger leaping gorge is on!
breakfast we again run into sarah and greg now with an aussie couple and some more friends... later meeting up for an extremely wierd drunken night out that lijiang is famed for (throughout backpacker hostels) where locals sing songs across a river at each other, taunting them to reply. we met some irish girls and ended up being an international crowd of 16 singing from 'grease lightening' to 'twinkle twinkle little star' amidst a baffled crowd of locals. bohemian rhapsody getting more strange looks than the alphabet song! really good night! packing up our shopping from the day before (hiking boots for me and little red pointy shoes for guro) next day we get a local bus to qiao toa. its full of westeners heading to tiger leaping. others all set out that night but in our travelling stylee the 6 of us spend a night in a v special hostel here 'janes'.... shall stop now as lunch time and i'm waffling. will return when refuelled and more focused!!!
