Llife in luxory

The title describes our last week very well...
In Bangkok we headed straight for our hotel and checked into our room with a kingsize bed. Fantastic!! Had room service breakfast and a long sleep :)Then managed to leave the room for a quick dip in the jacuzzi before drinks in the bar and dinner. Not bad this backpacker life!
Got ourselves to the airport in good time (5 hours before the flight) the next morning, which turned out to be a very ggod thing!!! Had been told to go to the Qantas office to get our tickets, but Caroline spent 3 hours looking for it, before we gave up... The people at the counter decided to let us on anyway, with our tickets for the 5th of dec...
Was very excited until we realised that we were next to the drunk scot. Oh well, 8 hours and not very much sleep later, we landed safely in sydney - bright and sunny Oz waiting at the doors!!!
Apart from the fact that it was raining. And cold. And we couldn;t get any money. Luckily with the new time difference, the Norwegian parents were still up and could fix the empty account :), and by the time the Derby parents arrived in Sydney, the weather had cleared and all seemed much brighter!
Got a taxi to parents hotel via our youth hostel (Great Aussie Backpackers - recommended by us now) and started the splurge, all sponsored by the Neales. In short have had many fantastic meals on the Rocks and Circular Quay, harbour cruises, bus tours, watching video og Tatty and Neale christmas, aquarium, Bondi beach trip + walk to Bronte, drinks in the fancy Four Season lobby and a lovely walk in the Botanic Gardens (bat and eel watching!) - thank you very very much mum and dad Neale!
On saturday we went to see Figaro at the Sydney Opera house - thank you very very much sister Neale! Was very cool, funny story and not to hard core for opera beginners. Also got to climb the harbour bridge - thank you very very much brother Neale! Were group no 18 to do the new explorer walk, goes inside the bridge, then up. Very cool!
And we have met friends again! Norlene and Jason were in Sydney til 6am saturday, so finally caught up with them friday night. Kept them out til midnight, so they just had time to clean their friends flat before they headed to Tasmania!
We are now left to fend for ourselves again. Next big step is buying a car! - Thank you very very much for sponsorship parents Hollund Otteren. A guy in the hostel is apparently a mechanic, so we are trying to convince him to come with us as we don't know up from down on 4 wheelers. Am sure we will only meet good natured people that will not try to take our money! Aussie are not like that are they Michelle?
Will let you know all details of the car buying when it is overwith. Now heading for the bottleshop and then to the hostel to make dinner! All by ourselves! So so so excited.
Whilst thanking for christmas presents, thank you very very much to brother Otteren for fixing this page and adding photos and posting blogs and being great! And thanks Fudge for the game! Will try it out with dinner and pink wine later tonight. And obvioulsy M&M for sarongs and geckos and picture - now on our table in our room for all to see!
Love you all!

Hei igjen på dere.
Glad to hear that you have landed nice and softly "down there" and that you have so well been taken care of by the Neales (bring our best wishes to them). Certainly a good start on the new year. Hopefully, you will have a happy stay "down under". We will send you e-mail with more news from home.
For now, love from f og m.
Ps. remember my lectures about cars and driving !
Hi guro&caro!
It's been a while since I read your blog now. Lots of new stuff to read through! Very nice. It's good to hear you're doing fine! And happy new year by the way. It was kind of weird that you weren't there Guro. Next year you both have to be!
Jupp. Oh, I've started my master-thesis now. Scary. But I think (hope) it will be allright in the end.
Oki-doki. Take care peoples!
Lovings, bibbi
Joda, Guro, me fylgjer med så godt me kan sjølv om me slit litt me manglande punktum og fremmende språk. Takk for koseleg julekort. Det kom seint, men godt! Det verkar ikkje som om de har det direkte vondt, men var det ikkje no snart de skulle begynna å jobba?
Helsing moster Jorunn
Hallaisen girls and a happy new year to you both! Glad to hear you're having fun.
It was fun (and strange) meeting you in Beijing. I took a picture of you both in the crowd just before we accidentally met at Tiananmen Square (whithout knowing you where in the picture). It's posted here: http://folk.ntnu.no/auger/gallery/album42/tn_kina358
Funny. There are some other pictures from Beijing at the same site if you want to have a look.
Otherwise: I've just started my second course in Oslo after spending the Christmas holidays in Bergen. Missed you there. I'm in New York in the beginning of june if you want to meet again:)
Take care. Tom
