Please don't feed the animals

This is the tale of the meeting between 2 hungry possums and 1 hungry kangeroo. When we had taken enough photos of the Remarkable Rocks, we headed back to the campsite to make food. Not entirely sure how to work the camping cookers, we were very happy when a possum and his friend showed up to lend a helping hand. For a small reward of course. Chilli was on the menu, and we quickly learned that kidneybeans are a bit of a favourite between possums. Only one of them was brave enough to come up to us to get the little goodies, but he kept bringing them back to his girlfriend to share. As the good girl she was, she would bite him and steal his food and send him back for more. This went on quite quietly for a while, until a small hoppetihopp (kangeroo) became aware of what was going on. He obviously thought this was a very unfair happening, and came to get his share. But possum wasn't going to just let him have it for free! So possum ran in as quickle as he could and grabbed the tasty beans. The hoppetihopp was however a quick little fellow and caught up with him in a few short hopps. He the hopped on the possum until possum let go of his treats. Fortunately for the possum though, kidney beans are not a favourite between kengaroos, so kengu left them for possum after a quick sniff.
We had great entertainment whilst eating our chilli watching the possum trying (and largely succeding) to outsmart the kengaroo whilst avoiding to get jumped on!
If anyone is worried all three creatures left the scene with no physical injuries.

I also have to mention Roo, an old (we think) kenguman who looked after us when we camped. He helped us put up our tent for a few salad leaves and a carrot in return. And a few neck scratches. And a piece of bread. And some water. At some point Span was worried he was going to choke, but he reassured us he was fine by trying to break into the car to steal the rest of the bread. Funny man. And I got to touch a kangeroos nose!
