Off we hopp
In Goulburn now, on our way to Sydney. We have left Victoria :( and lots of new friends. Have a feeling will be back... esp as a proposal bug seems to be spreading (congrats to vic and julian as the last ones!!!).Before we left Melbourne we manage to qualify as kitesurfers!!! So so much fun. Finally made it into the water, and stood up! On a board! A moving board! Pulled by the wind! Fair enough the standing up didn't last so long, very soon had a face full of water and no board, but am sure practice shall fix that very quickly (can't wait to come home and be your new cool friends Hege!!).
From Rosebud we went to Phillip Island, penguins and a cosy fireplace at Don and Pams (Fi parents). Had a lovely time with them and TJ. Saw some of the beautiful farm the next day when we went for a walk along their beaches! Gorgeous.
Then back to Melbourne for the vet function C's work at Springvale had invited us too. How often as a backpacker do you have a waiter come around and fill up your champagne glass the whole evening (wish we had M&M with us)???? Very cool. We even managed the black dress thing, thanks to TJs wardrobe. Finished the night at Gin Palace :)
Said a very sad goodbye to Vic and Julian the next morning, then met up with Marie and luke again for dinner, found more family traits - hyperextendable elbow joints.
Another sad goodbye to TJ, then off to Geelong for a quick hello to my work there, then to Ballarat where we had invited ourselves to stay with Rachel. Got waited on again, and finished off another few bottles of wine with her, Jac and Paul. Lovely lovely. Also had a quick recheck off my famous copperhead snake at Ballarat wildlife park. It is doing well, and will hopefully soon be back hunting unaware aussies in the wild :).
As we are doing the rounds of the Dean/Cameron family the obvious next stop was to TJ and Simons parents, Greg and Helen. Got dined and wined and spoilt rotten again. Really can get used to this hard backpacker life! We stayed with them for two nights whilst having a look at the Grampians. Headed up to the Pinnacle through Grand Canyon and Silent Street, then went for a great horsetrek in the valley.
And we went jabbying!! Tasty little crustations were fished up from the dam at the Deans farm in Landsborough. The were then cooked, shelled and ate. Nice :)
Got to Kerang for our last revisit. Spent another evening on Libbys couch, and said another sad goodbye :(
So now we almost ready to hop home for a quick visit! Just have to get the tax forms off and confirm our flights. Oh, and see some tigers in Thailand!
You will hear all about it!!
Lots of love
G&C
