Brisvegas!
As I couldn't stand Surfers Paradise (high rises on a beach...) we called Glenda and Dave ( from the transib) and took them up on their offer to house us a few days... Spoiled again! Great company and good wine - all we had to offer them was half a bottle of Merlot, the left overs from the night before :)Thursday we managed to drag ourselves out of the very comfy house and head into City. Wandered around Southbank and had a beer on Queen Street after a river cruise (obviously done the cheap way on the passenger ferry). Then off to the RSL (returned servicemens legion) to try the pokies (enarmet banditt)! A must for the true australian experience.
Friday we went to the zoo. Australia zoo where Mr Irwin used to be before the stingray got him. Lots of crockodiles, kanagroos and others - can't really remember as I found the kookaburra hospital!! So so cute. Want to take them home too, they look so furry and cosy, I'm sure they would be fine in Norway.
After the zoo we met up with Michelles brother Brendan on the verge of the motorway to the Gold Coast. He had one mission: to spoil us in the place of his sister. We like it :) Over the next days he took us to The Lighthouse for lunch with the rest of Michelles family, to a cowboy and indian party (we made costumes of old sheets - looked fantastic), on a boat trip in Moreton Bay, to see the glowworms under Nartural Bridge, to the tip on Tamburine Mountain and for many drives in super car - his Ford Falcon. GT I might add :)
Can truly recommend Brendans Magical Mystery tours! Must mention his babies too - Kelly and Buddy, american pitbulls. Good dogs.
Left him Monday to get to Hervey Bay. Found out just before we left that we had our dates wrong, and didn't really have to be there til Tuesday... So we ended up in a caravan park in Mooloolaba that night. How can you not stop in a place called Mooloolaba??? Had dinner at the beach, dodging the huge bats that were diving for our food. All very nice.
Will leave C to tell you about Fraiser Isalnd.
Lots of love
