Dolphins!

Got ourselves to Byron Bay and found the cheapest camping at the Arts Factory... Arty party place with lots of surfer dudes and hippies. Caroline almost left as soon as we got there when she saw a huge rat run between the tents. Got spoilt when we went home me thinks :) But put up our tent and went to town for a chicken kebab (and some tonic for the gin).
The day of much action we spent in a kayak looking for turtles and dolphins. Was great! The kayaks were big sitting on top of things that supposedly were imposible to capsize - we proved them wrong! and we found out why they make us wear helmets :)
Managed to get through the breaking waves and out to sea - this is where you are supposed to go around. Couldn't find any dolphins so went for a swim from the kayaks far out at sea - getting back in brought on the first tip... Then had biscuits and tea on a beach before we brased the breaking waves again - this time to catch them! So so much fun! and then the dolphins arrived. just next to our kayak - beautiful! Love them, but Caroline says I can't keep one :( Then all we had to do was get ourselves back on sore. Which we did, just not at them asame time as our kayak... Talent show at Arty party kept us occupied that night.

Next morning the weather was rubbish (ie overcast) so we left the sea to find the rainforrest in Lamington national park! Took Amy up a road winding enough to compete with norwegian roads, and just got our tent up ready to cook fillet steak for dinner when it started raining.... Thanks to a big tree the dinner was still a success and it all went down beautifully with the merlot from our wine tour (0h - that is another crazy thing! The Hunter Valley where we were dinking wine a week ago is now completely flooded!!! Water everywhere, and we thought it was the dryest place we had seen...). It rained all night, but Ben kept us dry, even though everything else was soaked.
In the morning we had a cup of tea with June Noden from Shropshire - turns out she knows Ali&Chris, James&Vanessa! Very funny. Got a quick run through of Junes life, think it had been to long since anyone had asked her over for a cup of tea - can take the lady out of england, but not england out of the lady! Or something similar :)
Then we saw all the parrots in the world, even fed them thanks to a sharing japanese family, before we climed a 30m high tree and set off to the other part of Lamington park. The whole trip to Lamington was done in the hope to find Andre, one of the rangers there whom Caroline talked to for about five minutes in Saigon... Couldn't find him and it was still raining and the camping gear was all wet, so after a quick stop in Surfers Paradise we headed to Brisbane.

Hungry now, so will tell you about Brisbane adventures later!
Lots of Love
Guro
