12000 feet to be exact. Caroline has in other words just jumped out of a plane!!!! Guro watched with her feet safely planted on the ground :) Looked fantastic, and apparently felt even better.

In Taupo now in gorgeous sunshine having learned to stay away from places with severe weather warnings :)
After the roads opened up north we headed to Auckland to catch up with Nicky and Quentin one last time. Pub meal and comedy night - great! Then we continued south to Raglan and a stunning coast road to Te Puia. When I say road... we did actually have to stop and ask someone if it really was a walking trek. Probably not the best suited road for campervans, but well worth it!

Then we had a good nights sleep in the carpark for the train station in Otorohunga, and went to see the kiwis at the Kiwihouse. So cute! And no surprise, I want one. Lots of other pretty and endangered birds there as well.

After that we got to Waitomo caves and did black water rafting!!! Cool. In every sense :) But with super thick wetsuits covering every bit of our bodies, we had a fantastic time! Jumping of small waterfalls into complete darkness and hopefull your black floating ring.... watching glowworms (or glowing maggot poo as we learned it really is) in the roof as we were floating along. Very special.
And we got free soup and bagels afterwards!

Got in the car with the heating on full and drove to Taupo where we found Mark and Emily! Very nice esp as their nice hostel owner let us sleep outside and use their shower for free!

Now we are off to see the dams opening, and then tomorrow we are doing the Taurongariro crossing - the Mount Doom walk!
