Bula! Kidnapped and stalked in Fiji!!

We had a lovely couple of days with Mark and Emily in Christchurch before heading off to wonderful fiji... and if any parent is troubled in any way by the title of this blog, think about it... we're writing the blog and haven't phoned home with ransom demands :) Its just when we left the plane in Fiji what was supposed to be an organised pick up with singing, leis (necklaces) and most importantly a sign with our name on it, the whole thing was marred by the Laminex group (boooo). The entire plane had been booked out by this conference group, we thought it was a bit dodgy when they all knew each other at check-in etc but it was christchurch, small city with friendly people so we thought it was the norm. Instead of our transfer we got absorbed into the group and although demanding to be taken to the West motor inn ended up with about 200 hundred others at the Westin resort, fortunately only half an hour in the wrong direction. And apparently this was our fault when it came to the price of the return taxi!
The West motor inn itself was nothing to write home about so to speak, but the Fijian attitude and weather meant you couldn't get upset. Just smile and say fiji time, seems to work for them :) We were still very happy when Johnny (our indian driver) came to take us away to Warwick resort in our own little private taxi! And so bring on the stalker... Johnny was very pleasant and chatty and kept us entertained for the 90min journey, he even stopped to let us stock up on food at the local supermarket (Fiji/or the Warwick is not cheap, and we only had breakfast included in our deal). He then invited us for dinner on friday! Great we thought, the local experience! He is after all married with two daughters, so we were sure it would all be fine. He then called at 10pm, 7am, 4pm, 7pm etc... We think he continues, but by now we had stopped answering the phone :)

Apart from this we really didn't do much at all! Starting the day with breakfast buffet + harvesting for lunch :), lay by pool, swim, tan, snorkel, tan, sleep/watch tv, have dinner, sleep. Hard life in other words.

And now we're in Hawaii!!! Aloha til next time!
xx
